Mathhew Goldfine
PRESIDENT
Matthew Goldfine has over 25 years of experience in the construction industry as a general contractor, designing, building and managing a wide range of projects in the New York, Tri-state area. Clients rely on his unique expertise in the renovation and restoration of antique buildings for projects ranging from the complete makeover of private brownstones in Manhattan and Brooklyn to the high profile renovation of the U.S. Court of Appeals of the Second Circuit and the design and construction of the Federal Trade Commission offices at One Bowling Green, NYC. Mr. Goldfine has also been involved in a number of state of the art projects requiring an extremely high level of precision and craftsmanship. Examples include the construction and renovation of the Donghia Interior Design Resource Center at Parsons School of Design, NYC and the high tech Belfer Lighting facility in Farmingdale, NJ.
In addition, Mr. Goldfine has completed numerous projects throughout the New York Tri-state area in both the public and private sectors, on public bid, municipal, state and federal projects as well as commercial and residential projects. A partial list can be found below.
James Vento
PROJECT MANAGER / SUPERINTENDENT
James Vento joined Excel in 2002. His knowledge of construction methods and many years of field experience quickly propelled him into the role of full charge Superintendant and Projects Manager. With over 11 years of construction experience, James is one of the senior most managers with Excel. In addition he is OSHA safety certified.
Martin Mills, LEED AP
PROJECT MANAGER / ESTIMATOR
Martin Mills joined Excel two years ago as a Project Manager and has since taken on the additional role of Estimator. He is certified by the American Concrete Institute and the International Code Council. Mr. Mills is also a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Accredited Professional, a certification given to individuals who have demonstrated a thorough understanding of green building practices and the LEED certification requirements. Prior to coming to Excel, Mr. Mills was a structural concrete and steel engineering inspector and has also been a property manager. He has a BA from the University of Illinois in Chicago.
Diego Cuadros
PROJECT MANAGER / SUPERINTENDENT
Diego Cuadros began his career in construction in 1995, owning his own contracting firm in Long Island, NY. He has a wide range of experience in a number of trades and is currently working towards his Site Safety Manager certification. Mr. Cuadros also spent time on Wall Street as an equities trader and as an options trader.
Geoff Protz, LEED AP
PROJECT ENGINEER
Geoff Protz's fascination with construction began at an early age when he used to watch work crews outside his Cleveland, Ohio home. His interest continued leading him to study at Case Western Reserve University where he received a BSE in Civil Engineering.While at school Mr. Protz participated in a cooperative education program with the Albert M. Higley Co., one of Ohio's most experienced and respected commercial construction services organizations for nearly 90 years. While at Higley Mr. Protz gained experience in many areas of construction management and general contracting including estimating, bidding, scheduling and site supervision.
In December 2008 Mr. Protz achieved his LEED AP certification and in February 2009 he relocated to New York City, currently residing in Bushwick, Brooklyn. He is an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns, the Indians and the Cavaliers. We hired him anyway.
Wayne Valzania
PROJECT MANAGER/SUPERINTENDENT
Wayne Valzania is a master craftsman, builder, and project manager who honed his skills in the time honored tradition of apprenticing true, old world master builders. He has designed and hand crafted numerous unique and eclectic homes throughout the northeast with roots in the design and construction of passive solar, timber frame and conventional homes with liberal use of steel and finished concrete.Wayne comes to Excel with degrees in both electrical and computer engineering and has extensive experience in the design and build out of corporate data centers. Wayne continues his studies in Construction Management at New York University.
Adam Goldfine
MARKETING DIRECTOR
Adam Goldfine comes to Excel Builders from a diverse business background with an emphasis on operations, marketing and communications. As Chief Operating Officer of Misty Mate, a manufacturer of portable misting products, Mr. Goldfine was instrumental in developing international markets and oversaw a complete product line redevelopment resulting in substantial expansion into the domestic big box retail market.As Chief Operating Officer of top selling comic book publisher Chaos! Comics, Mr. Goldfine oversaw finance, operations, marketing and new business development. Under his direction, Chaos! grew from the ninth largest comic book publisher in North America to the fifth largest.
Prior to coming to Chaos!, Mr. Goldfine founded and was president of GeoServe Communications, a full service web developer. Notable clients include CBS Studio Center, Panavision Hollywood, Polygram Filmed Entertainment and Wyle Electronics.
Mr. Goldfine attended New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts where he earned a BFA in Motion Picture Production. He has worked extensively in the motion picture industry on dozens of feature films, commercials, documentaries and music videos in New York, Hollywood and internationally.
